I'm trying to plasma cut holes out for a flange bearing in a piece of channel. I need them to be precisely located in the center of the channel. I have drawn them on the Torchmate CAD CAM, but it always sets the origin at the lower left corner when I show the cut path. I would like to set the origin in the middle of the drawing so that I can line up the torch of my Torchmate 4510 at the exact center of the channel and set the plate origin to cut out the bearing holes. Does anyone know how to program that? I have tried to change the origin under "Material Size-'origin selection'" but that only seems to change the origin location for the drawing of the part, not the cut path origin. Thanks
on the torchmate cad menu right under arrange there are 9 nubs . change the nub from lower left to center
I finally figured out how to set the cut path origin in the center of the part. Under "Machine" "Machining Defaults" "Setup" There is a grid on that page that allows you to set where the Origin starts and ends. When you are done you need to change the settings back to the lower left corner or all of your drawings will start in the center.
I think you can also Ctrl-shift-rightclick on the center node of the object. You will see the horizontal and vertical rulers each show zero for that node afterwards. Then you have to take one more step to use that origin in the gcode (otherwise the torch starts from and ends at bottom left corner of “material”). I have not tried this additional step, but here is what i got from tech support... Lastly you'll need to select the Machine Origin point by clicking Machine > Machining Defaults > Setup > Under Origin, select the center point and click okay. Note: The Endpoint option on this page tells the Torch where to go after the cut. I Tested it a few times. This for sure sets your x0,y0 point in the center of the Material within G Code.
