Hi Guys, and Gals. I got an e-mail that said I could win a free helmet. That would be cool. So I thought I would give it a shot. The goal of the contest is to create more excitement on the forum pages, so I have a few projects that you may enjoy. The first one is a bike rack I built for the local police department. I started with some 16 gauge sheet metal, and drew the basic shapes I needed to make the project in 3D. I cut out 4 of everything. I used my plasma machine, but I draw and cut everything by hand. I don't have a fancy CNC machine, but I have been doing this kind of thing for a while. I shaped 1/8 inch strap material to fit around pieces of 16 gauge I had cut out. On the larger areas I also plug welded some strap inside the pieces to make them rigid. I used pipe to make the key hole, and then anchor chain to attach the two large pieces. Lots of welding, and lots of grinding. The local powder coater put a layer of silver over the whole thing.
Hey Bonehead, Our internal network blocks external photos for most people so the Lincoln guys here won't be able to see them if you use photobucket etc. If you just upload them directly to the forum by using the Choose File option when posting then they will be hosted by the forum and everyone can see them. I edited the last two you did to do this. I can do your original post for you too if you like.
