Searching for what I want to call a CNC Frame Drill or CNC Rail Drill... Drilling many vertical holes in 4" (H) X 2" (W) X 3/8" (Thk) x 40' (L) structural tubing. Would like to have a drilling mechanism on a gantry that travels the full 40' and drills all the way through the tubing (4" Stroke). Ideally the device would drill all the holes without need for operator interaction... Say the operator inputs all the hole locations in X and Y dimensions then hits go and the machine drills everything as specified. Or we could feed the machine a .step file or something but that's just getting more complex and doesn't seem necessary. I've seen drill lines for I-beams in the past but typically they're much bigger and more complicated (& $$) than we're needing. Example: http://www.controlledautomation.com/Beam_Drilling_Line_DRL-344-Specs.html OR http://www.oceanmachinery.com/solutions/avenger-plus-cnc-beam-drill-line.html Has anyone seen a simple, cost effective solution for this? Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks,
