hey all just another thread on what the best Mig Welder is. I’m after a Mig or multiprocess under $2000 that will weld 2mm up to 10mm aluminium. I use a fronius at work with the amp control on both the Mig and tig torches, now I know for up to 2grand I will get nothing like the fronius just seeing what you lads reckon. If the Mig and torch can support amp control from the torch that would be wicked.

I have a Lincoln Square Wave 200 tig, and a Hobart Ironman 230 mig with spool gun. Both are great machines and serve me well. Both are in your price range.

The one challenge you'll face when trying to weld aluminium is that a MIG welder may have too much power for thinner sheets of aluminum. A good rule of thumb is that you'll weld aluminum that is 14 gauge and higher. Thinner aluminium will need a pulse setting for a MIG welder. Otherwise, use a TIG welder.
