Hi guys, I have the growth series 2x4, year 2011 model. I notice the torch can be jiggled approx 1/16” at the nozzle end. This play is in the lifter station. Can you inform me what needs to be changed to firm this up and any instructions ? Larry Cameron RusticMetalArt NZ
If you have a TM 2 or 3 it could be in the cassette on the linear slide. The cassette has a set screw on top of one of the jaws have to remove the rubber insert, remove the 1/2" tool mounting plate, loosen the 4 allen screws on the jaw with the set screw and snug up set screw, then reassemble.
That is right forgot you had a Growth Series, jog the cassette over behind the inspection plate and look at the back side of the cassette, there are two bearings on the back side that compress the guide rail between the 4 bearings on the front side, the preload can be adjusted if need be to take up the slop. The two steel blocks above and below the two bearings can be adjusted by tightening the allen screw on the front side, may need to loosen the block as the holes are slotted. Either that or the 4 bolts holding the tool mounting plate to the cassette are loose.
I had the same issue with my GS. I detached the lead screw mount so I was able to test the tension on all the bearings across the gantry. The adjustments are a bit archaic but well worth spending time on and getting right.
