I have the 80 amp cutter and was just curious as to what everyone else is getting the best results on there machines
I am running the 4800 machine and cut all types of materials
from 22g all the way to 1/2 inch

I cut some 20g yesterday at 250ipm and 30v. Using pm125 with 45a shielded consumables.

I've been cutting 14g at 148ipm and 42v (same setup) but the dross is excessive IMO. Need to fine tune a little.

With FC80 and 40amp consumables with 40 amps set on the machine

    14ga 210ipms
    11ga 106ipms
    3/16 53ipm

I will be posting another set like this for the FC125 along with different amperage.

I'm not a production cutter so all Chad cares about is clean and little to no clean up.

Cutting at 40 amps with the Flexcut 80 these settings produce cuts with very little bevel and minimal dross.

    18ga 350ipm
    16ga 300ipm
    14ga 210ipm
    12ga 140ipm
    10ga 92ipm

At 60 amps these settings work well:

    3/16" 90ipm
    1/4" 70ipm
    3/8" 33ipm

    We are running 16ga CRS.
On our previous machine, we ran 45A .06 cut height .12 pierce .15delay @280 IPM I was able to achieve 95% dross free

On our new 4800 i have run a many cut test first starting with the book rec. Dross was terrible
I have now run test ranging from 80IPM up to 400IPM @45A and i am seeing no difference in dross accumulation

I have also played with my amps and cut height. Still no change

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

    Well Jeff, priorities and expectations.

Usually when I'm particular on the thinner material I'd drop the amps down to about 35ish and run the speed a little lower. the 14ga material we cut does have a little dross accumulation in the corners but nothing a zip of the wire wheel wouldn't take off.

If you are using a FC80, with the regular 40 amp consumables you should be running around 245ish on your 16ga @ 40amps.

I only use the book values for the Cut Height, Pierce Height, and Pierce Delay and use the OPTIMAL FEED RATE as a starting point for the line speed test. After I run the line speed test, I'll run a small part to verify the output at the speed I found looked good. The straight lines will usually cut but the corners and inside features will run slower so I will accommodate for that. I'll usually run a 4" baseplate from the shape library to get my speeds dialed in.
On that thin of material the CUT HEIGHT shouldn't move a whole lot as if you are getting any bevel on your cuts then its mechanics (torch square to the material) or consumables (worn nozzle).

I probably wouldn't try it. I have a FC125 and we are having problems with cutting at 105 amps. Between me and my operator we have been in contact with Torchmate for this issues quite a few times. Their answer to me was cut it with our 125 amp setting because it is in the middle of that chart. Our machine is a production run machine. Our machine is the Table X. We got the machine to be able to cut 3/4" and thicker material when we have too. 3/4" material is about 40% of what we cut. I am trying to get our issues straighten out before I attempt to cut 1" material. I have a job coming up where I will be cutting about a 1/2 of 4' x 8' plate. This is my opinion and they may tell you something else

Try it with 60 amps consumables and see if you get better results, but leave the amperage at lowest setting.

Any plasma cutter same with HT or TD will work best when you stay in the middle of the cutting chart, cutting thick plate there is no reason to cut in Auto mode leave it in Manual. Karlo, you didnt mention Cut Speed that would be the only missing variable in your settings.

Any recommendations on settings for fine cut consumables on the flexcut 80? I tried various settings from the chart and can't get a good cut.

Provided is the cut charts for the Precision Cuts.

I recommend running a LINE SPEED TEST as I'm getting about 30% less than the OPTIMAL SPEEDS listed in the charts.
I would use these if I was cutting anything thinner than 14ga.
