Cut some new 3/16 pointed slats for the table today. The first real cuts I've made since acquiring the 6x12 TMX. It did well. Still need some additional test and tune. This Powermax 125 cuts considerably different than my 45, even at identical amps, speed and pressure. Planning to try the fine cut consumables tomorrow.

Nice to finally have THC. This 3/16 plate was an "Econo" buy at my local steel store. Check out the warp in it. I cut these at 65amps, 75ipm and 130 volts. I prefer slow and steady at this point. They had no dross on the straights but a lot on the spikes.

Cut a coupe 4x8 sheets for a guy building outdoor light poles. These will be rolled into cones and used as lamp shades. There were around 75 holes in each piece sized at .375. Should be interesting. I'll post pics.

    20 gauge steel
    Fine cut consumables
    160 ipm
    30 amps
    .15 ich
    .17 ph

Yes. Thanks. Kinda funny, makes that 4x8 sheet look like it's been shrunk. Lol

Miniature version of the actual end product. The base is made from the inside cuts from the larger pieces pictured above. I cut the parts. Customer built the lamp.

Jason, I assume you will kick the 2x2 to the curb after dialing in the tmx... It looks like it will handle anything you throw at it

Oh gosh no. My 2x2 is my fall back. It's in the shop at my house so I can walk out in my sandels and shorts and make some quick cuts. :D The TMX is 15 minutes away. Also, I haven't been able to get the cut quality with the TMX that I can achieve with my 2x2. So I'm still cutting small stuff on it. A 1/4" hole is noticeably better with my 2x2 and Ive dialed it in to be almost dross free. But I've only had a few weeks to work on fine tuning he TMX. I may be wrong in my assumption but it just seems like the Powermax 125 (machine torch) just doesn't give as fine a cut as my Powermax 45 (handheld). Even if I use fine cut consumables in the 125 and shielded in the 45. Obviously they are two different machines so I'm not sure if I should expect similar results. Also my 2x2 does not have THC but I'd think that would take away from its quality. I've actually considered selling the 125 and getting a 65 but I need to spend more time working on fine tuning. I know the mechanics of the table are good because the cut deminsions are spot on. Maybe even better than the 2x2. I definetly am happy to finally have THC and a table that I can cut 5x10 sheets on if I need to.

Here what my pm45 can do on my 2x2 with no THC. This is the back side, straight off the table, 10 gauge. If I can get the 125 to cut like this I'll be in good shape. [IMG]

That looks awesome !!! If you had thc on that machine it would really help with thin material...I can watch mine go up and down while cutting

That's awesome for 20 gauge! I wish I could get my table dialed in to cut 20 gauge like that I cant cut 16 gauge yet.

Ah, right on. Ya, I was pretty happy with that. First time I'd cut anything that thin. It cut really good. Just have to be careful of springback and small holes jackin with the THC. But it was almost dross free. Fine cut consumables made a difference. Thanks.

I'm not familure with THC is that the same as AVHC. I have tried the 30 amp consumables but I use Ohmic sensing and I need to fined away to do a OHMIC with the 30amp caps. I'm thinking of making up a rod and clamping it to the side of the cap.

THC is Torch Height Control, and yes mine is AVHC. I've never used ohmic but I'm assuming it's better since LECS uses it on the new tables.
